Want to get more involved at North Star but aren’t sure where to start? Our PTA committees are a great way to jump in, meet other families, and make a difference for our students!
Our committees help bring the events, programs, and activities that make North Star such a special place to life. And there’s no one-size-fits-all way to volunteer! Some committees involve helping plan and organize an event, while others simply need extra hands for set-up, clean-up, or volunteering during the event. We also have recurring opportunities, like the Wolf Pride Market, where volunteers can help once a month.
Whether you have a little time or a lot, there’s a place for you!

📚 Friends of the Library📚
The Friends of the Library Committee helps bring literacy, books, and special reading experiences to life at North Star! This committee supports several of our favorite library events and fundraisers throughout the school year.
What You’ll Help With:
🎈 Balloons Aloft – Help collect breakfast burrito orders and distribute them the morning of October 2nd.
📚 Scholastic Book Fair – Help with set-up, running the book fair, and take-down during our October Book Fair.
📖 Read-A-Thon – Help plan and prepare for our spring Read-A-Thon.
🌟 One Book, One School – Help with planning and supporting this special school-wide reading experience in the spring.
⏰ Time Commitment
Varies throughout the year. Some opportunities are one-day events, while others involve planning and preparation ahead of time. Volunteer as much or as little as your schedule allows!

🏃 Fun Run Committee🏃
Get ready to run, cheer, and have some fun! The Fun Run Committee helps plan and organize our annual Fun Run throughout the month of September, leading up to the big event on September 29th.
What You’ll Help With:
📋 Planning & Preparation – Help get everything ready throughout the month of September.
🎉 Fun Run Day – Help with set-up, running the event, cheering on our Wolves, and clean-up/take-down.
🏆 Prize Distribution – Help distribute student prizes during the week following the Fun Run.

Flexible! Volunteers can choose what works best for their schedule—you can help with planning throughout September, volunteer on Fun Run day, assist with prize distribution, or jump in for all of it!

⭐ Howlin' At The Stars Committee ⭐
Ready to help us make our biggest fundraising event of the spring a howlin’ success? 🐺✨ The Howlin’ At The Stars Committee begins planning in January and works together throughout the spring to make this special night happen on May 7th!
What You’ll Help With:
💰 Business Outreach & Donations – Reach out to local and national businesses to request monetary donations and items for our silent auction and prize drawings. This is one of the biggest areas where we need volunteer help!
🎁 Classroom Auction Baskets – Each classroom creates a themed basket for the silent auction, and volunteers can help coordinate themes, collect donations, and assemble the baskets.
📋 Event Planning – Help plan the event, coordinate details, organize donations, and keep everything moving toward the big night.
🎉 Event Day – Help with set-up, running activities, assisting throughout the event, and tear-down at the end of the night.

Varies – Monthly Planning + Flexible Volunteer Opportunities
The committee typically meets once a month beginning in January, but you can choose how involved you’d like to be. Help with business outreach, classroom baskets, event planning, or simply lend a hand on event day - or jump in and help with it all!

🍎Sweet Treats Committee🍎
Our teachers and staff do so much for our Wolves, and the Teacher Appreciation Committee helps us show them just how much they are valued! 💙 This committee provides little surprises and special treats throughout the school year to let our teachers and staff know we appreciate everything they do.
What You’ll Help With:
🥐 Teacher Breakfasts & Lunches – Help set up and serve special meals for our teachers and staff.
🍪 Treats & Snacks – Help organize, prepare, or drop off snacks and goodies throughout the year.
💙 Random Acts of Appreciation – Help us surprise our teachers and staff with thoughtful treats and gestures just because!

There are opportunities throughout the school year, but there is no regular schedule or ongoing commitment required. Sign up when you’re available and help as much or as little as your schedule allows!

🍕 Restaurant Night 🍕
Give parents a night off from cooking while raising money for North Star! 🍽️ The Restaurant Night Committee partners with local restaurants to organize fun nights out where a portion of participating sales is donated back to our school.
What You’ll Help With:
📞 Restaurant Outreach – Connect with restaurants in our community to find new fundraising partners and schedule Restaurant Nights.
📅 Event Coordination – Work with restaurants and the PTA to coordinate dates, details, and fundraising information.
📣 Promotion – Communicate event details with the school and help spread the word so our families can come out, enjoy a meal, and support North Star!

Flexible & Occasional
Most of the work happens behind the scenes—reaching out to restaurants, coordinating details, and communicating upcoming events. There is no regular meeting schedule, and volunteers can help as opportunities come up throughout the year.
Perfect for: Community-minded volunteers who enjoy connecting with local businesses and want to help raise money for our Wolves—without having to cook dinner! 😉🍕🐺
🔬Science Committee 🔬
Calling all science lovers! 🧪 The Science & Discovery Committee helps bring hands-on science and discovery to life at North Star through our annual Family Science Night and Science Fair!
What You’ll Help With:
🧪 Family Science Night – Help set up, run activities, welcome families, and clean up after our fun-filled evening of science and discovery.
🔬 Science Fair – Help support the Science Fair the following day and make sure everything runs smoothly for our student scientists.
📦 Set-Up & Take-Down – Help transform the space for both events and get everything cleaned up and put away afterward.

This committee is busiest around our Science Night and Science Fair, which take place on back-to-back days. Volunteers can help with set-up, during either event, take-down, or all of the above!

🐺 Wolf Pride Market Committee 🐺
Once a month, the PTA hosts our Wolf Pride Market, where students get to “shop” using the Wolf Bucks they’ve earned for showing kindness, responsibility, and school pride. Our parent volunteers help make the market happen!
What You’ll Help With:
🛍️ Set Up – Help organize and prepare the market before students arrive.
🐺 Run the Market – Help students shop, make their selections, and have a great experience.
📦 Take Down – Help clean up and get everything ready for the next market.

You choose what works for you! Volunteer for one market, two markets, or all of them. Every shift makes a difference!

🐺 Family Engagement Committee 🐺
More connection, more community, more North Star! 💙 The Family Engagement Committee works directly with North Star Elementary staff to help bring family-focused events and experiences to life throughout the school year.
From festive traditions to student showcases, this committee helps make school events welcoming, fun, and memorable for our entire North Star community.
What You’ll Help With:
✨ Luminaria Night – Help with set-up, welcoming families, running the event, and clean-up in December.
🎤 Talent Show – Help support the event in the spring with set-up, event assistance, and take-down.
🎉 Other Family Events – Jump in throughout the year to help with additional events hosted by the North Star staff.

Completely Flexible!
There is no regular meeting schedule or required commitment. Volunteers can choose the events and tasks that work best for their schedule. Help with one event, several events, or wherever you’re needed!
